Daily Notes
After lunch today I headed out. I got my flu shot at Thrifty Foods at 2:30 p.m. From there, I drove to Shar-Kare for more “chick starter” feed.
The chicks have been tearing through food like little feathered vacuum cleaners—only in reverse. They peck, fling, and scatter grain all over the ground like confetti. When I got home, I filled their feeder again and stood for a minute watching the whole flock move around. The grey hens, the ones with Vietnamese breeding, are almost as big as our spotted hens now. It’s funny how quickly growth sneaks up on you. A month ago they were fragile, almost nervous little birds; now they strut with this strange confidence. It reminded me that progress is often quiet until it suddenly isn’t.
Later, I took our daughter for a short drive. She didn’t feel like stopping at McDonald’s or Starbucks, which is unusual for her. I grabbed a small black coffee for $1.05 at the drive-thru window.

Later this evening I swung by Subway and ordered a 12-inch chicken teriyaki on wheat with all the “veggies”. I made it a combo with “Cheddar” Sun Chips, and a lemonade. I ate it at a corner booth and watched a bit of Season #2, Episode #7, of “Peacemaker” (see photo to the left).
I’d packed some of my oatmeal cookies—the ones with sweet potato, squash, and berries—intending to have them with my coffee back at McDonald’s, but when I got there, my usual table was taken, so I just went home.
Before bed, I went through my nightly routine—vitamins, collagen, face cleanser, Dove Pro-Retinol, moisturizer.
Today didn’t feel dramatic. No breakthroughs, no crises, no revelations. Just a steady hum of things healing themselves because I let them.
Tonight’s whisper: “Tonight, as I sleep, I open myself to the universe. Show me what’s already here, waiting to be seen. If love or clarity is standing in front of me, let me recognize it.”
