- #1) Hello – Begin by acknowledging them out loud. Simply say “Hello Universe” and open the conversation. The goal is not perfection or certainty, but connection. Say “THANK YOU” for everything and be SPECIFIC about manifestations!
- #2) Honesty – Speak truthfully about what you actually feel — fear, loneliness, frustration, gratitude, confusion, hope, excitement, doubt, or exhaustion. Don’t perform spirituality. Just be real.
- #3) Companionship – Treat them like companions walking beside you. Share little moments throughout the day: things you notice, appreciate, wonder about, or find beautiful or funny. Build relationship, not just requests.
- #4) Meetings – Take a few moments each day to talk through your life with them — what’s ahead today, what you’re worried about, what you want, where you feel stuck, and where you’d appreciate support or clarity.
- #5) Asking – Ask first for emotional relief and inner calm, then ask for solutions, guidance, pop-ins, signs, opportunities, ideas, or small favors. Ask openly without demanding exact outcomes or trying to control how the answer arrives.
- #6) Releasing – After asking, stop forcing. Go live your life. Walk, drive, work, brainstorm out loud, drink coffee, move through ordinary moments, and allow ideas or clarity to arise naturally instead of mentally gripping for answers.
- #7) Noticing – Pay attention to what returns — sudden ideas, emotional shifts, coincidences, synchronicities, timing, relief, unexpected opportunities, little “winks,” or moments that feel quietly meaningful. Then continue the conversation and relationship over time.

📋Additional Daily Notes
Today turned into one of those days that wandered all over the place and somehow managed to tie itself together rather nicely by the end.
I was up ridiculously late—or ridiculously early, depending on how you look at it. At about 3:35 this morning I had another little conversation with the Universe. I’ve been feeling as though I’m at something of an inflection point in my life lately. There is so much happening in the world, the economy seems increasingly strange, fuel prices are going crazy, and then there are all the things I’ve been thinking about personally: finding my passion, figuring out what I actually want the next part of my life to look like. Somewhere in the middle of all that, I also made one very specific and considerably less profound request of the Universe: I wanted to find a toonie today.
The kids were home from school because it was a district-wide professional development/non-instructional day in the Comox Valley. That gave us an opportunity to do something together that I’ve only recently started learning: Minecraft. All three of us played for about an hour!
Then later today the great question of the evening came up: where was I actually going to eat?
I headed to Subway and was already standing in line when I realized that today was Monday, not Sunday, and I wasn’t particularly interested in what I thought of as their Monday veggie option. Nah. I left.
Back home, I decided maybe I’d go to Costco, get one of their hot dogs and wander around to see what else looked interesting. Costco was busy, though, and there was a substantial lineup. I was considering waiting it out, but eventually headed for the washroom.
And that’s where the trip suddenly became worthwhile.
I unexpectedly ran into my friend Wes. Wes is interested in mediumship and some of the alien/UFO material I’ve been hearing about lately. We talked for a while, including about the significance he associates with September 23. We’ve now arranged to meet at Starbucks in Courtenay at 5:30 p.m. this Wednesday, September 23, so I’m curious to hear exactly what he thinks is supposed to be significant about that date.
Wes was also at Costco because he’s concerned about diesel prices and believes they’re going to rise dramatically. He was talking about stocking up on toilet paper and other supplies. I later looked into the diesel situation, and although I couldn’t substantiate a prediction that prices will suddenly explode specifically over the next few days, the broader situation really is unusual. Diesel prices have risen sharply in 2026, with disruptions to Russian and Middle Eastern supply, refinery problems, low inventories and geopolitical conflicts all contributing. We even looked at the rough 20-year history of Vancouver diesel prices, and the current spike stands out dramatically.

Costco never did provide dinner, though, so I eventually headed to the McDonald’s on Guthrie Road. I bought their $5 Crispy Chicken McWrap McValue Meal and added a cheeseburger for $2.99. Rather than just eating at McDonald’s, I drove down to Goose Spit. That turned out to be a very good decision.
I sat there munching away while the sun disappeared behind the mountains (see photo to the left). The sky turned orange and red along the horizon, the water grew darker, and the lights gradually began appearing around the shoreline. It was beautiful.
I also noticed some of the impressive homes overlooking Goose Spit, and immediately my novelist’s brain started working. I could imagine using something like that in The Epic Evie Story. Maybe somewhere in the story there is a beautiful home overlooking the water in the Comox Valley.
Speaking of The Epic Evie Story, I returned to Project #0021 today and established exactly where I need to pick it up. Chapter 3 begins immediately inside Trader Joe’s.
I also continued working through my Shaolin Online Kung Fu material today. This session was about Hou Shi, or Monkey Stance, the second basic exercise in Wu Xing Quan, the Five Element Fist. The important lesson wasn’t to do it quickly or forcefully, but almost the opposite: slow down, relax the shoulders and body, coordinate the arms and legs, shift the weight correctly, keep the tailbone tucked, keep the fingers together, and look horizontally rather than down. The idea is to practice the transition from Dun Hou Shi into Hou Shi slowly enough that eventually the body understands the movement without having to consciously assemble all the pieces. The assignment is to practice it every day for the next 21 days.
Food was another recurring subject today. I’ve been thinking a lot about Andrew Taylor’s SpudFit experiment and his description of deliberately making food boring because he considered himself a food addict. That led me back into my own questions about how simple I can make my diet without creating another plan that works for a while and then collapses when I transition away from it.
We played around with a simple vegan meal built around potatoes, brown rice, beans or lentils, vegetables, dark leafy greens, blueberries, flaxseed and fortified plant milk. I also liked the idea of making a simple little “cookie” from rolled oats, unsweetened applesauce and cinnamon. Tofu came back into the discussion too. Apparently simmering firm tofu briefly in salted water can improve its flavour and texture before drying it and putting it into the air fryer. I even considered using some cauliflower florets I had in the refrigerator, until I noticed their best-before date was September 2. Nineteen days past the date for pre-cut refrigerated cauliflower seemed like a good enough reason to say goodbye to them.
Well, that’s enough for today. See you tomorrow!
