    • #5) Asking – Ask first for emotional relief and inner calm, then ask for solutions, guidance, pop-ins, signs, opportunities, ideas, or small favors. Ask openly without demanding exact outcomes or trying to control how the answer arrives.
    • #6) Releasing – After asking, stop forcing. Go live your life. Walk, drive, work, brainstorm out loud, drink coffee, move through ordinary moments, and allow ideas or clarity to arise naturally instead of mentally gripping for answers.
    • #7) Noticing – Pay attention to what returns — sudden ideas, emotional shifts, coincidences, synchronicities, timing, relief, unexpected opportunities, little “winks,” or moments that feel quietly meaningful. Then continue the conversation and relationship over time.

📋Additional Daily Notes

Today wasn’t filled with any grand adventures, but by the time the day was over, I realized it had quietly become one of those days that reminds me how a meaningful life is built—one small decision at a time.

2026-08-05 - Filipino Candies

One of the highlights was seeing The Next Chapter finally come to life. Over the past couple of days, what began as a simple idea gradually transformed into something that genuinely feels like me. It started with choosing a template in Kit, then refining the wording over and over until the page no longer sounded like marketing and instead felt like an honest invitation. The headline—“What if your most meaningful years haven’t happened yet?”—captures a question I’ve been asking myself for quite some time. Looking at the finished page, I realized it isn’t really about collecting email addresses at all. It’s about opening a conversation with people who may be asking many of the same questions I am. One sentence, in particular, stayed with me: “But I’ve come to believe that asking better questions changes everything.” The older I get, the more I appreciate curiosity over certainty.

The morning took me on an unexpected little quest. I was determined to find the French’s No Sugar Added Ketchup that’s sweetened with stevia. It may sound like an odd thing to spend time searching for, but I’m learning that lasting habits are built on small choices. After checking around, I finally found it at Quality Foods. It was one of those tiny victories that probably wouldn’t mean much to anyone else, but it felt like another piece of my AI Diet falling into place. Healthy eating isn’t only about discipline—it’s also about making the healthy choice the easy choice.

That stop at Quality Foods led to something even more memorable. I dropped into Quinn’s Groceries, where Glenda, a friendly Filipino lady, began showing me candies she had grown up with in the Philippines. As she described each one, it became obvious they weren’t just treats—they were little pieces of childhood. I left with four different kinds: White Rabbit, Curly Tops, Flat Tops, and Choc-Nut (see photo to the right). On the drive home, an idea began to take shape. Rather than keeping them for myself, I’d gradually share them with the wonderful Filipino staff at McDonald’s, the people who greet me with smiles so often when I stop in for coffee. It isn’t really about the candy. It’s about appreciation and perhaps giving someone a small taste of home.

This afternoon I took the kids to their viola lessons. While they were in class, I stopped at A&W on Cliff Avenue for a coffee, but it was packed, so instead I simply sat in the car for about twenty minutes and enjoyed the quiet. Later in the evening, my daughter and I spent a little time mulling together before I found myself back at McDonald’s with my usual black coffee.

The day even included a couple of unexpected little surprises. I finally perfected my air fryer fries using only a light spray of avocado oil, and they turned out beautifully—crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and exactly the kind of simple food I’d hoped to create for the AI Diet. While at McDonald’s, I also noticed one of the new Spider-Man Happy Meal toys, a tiny backpack that made me smile. It was just another little reminder that ordinary days often have their own small treasures.

As the evening unfolded, I even found myself daydreaming a little about the Philippines—looking up airfare from Comox, wondering about the best time of year to visit, and imagining what it might be like to experience the places and culture I’ve spent so much time learning about over the past year. Whether or not that trip happens anytime soon, it reminded me that it’s good to have dreams that stretch just beyond the horizon.

Looking back over the day, a theme emerges. Whether I was writing The Next Chapter, searching for a healthier ketchup, discovering Filipino candies, perfecting homemade fries, reaching out to a new Coffee Club match, or imagining a future trip across the Pacific, everything seemed to revolve around becoming just a little more intentional.

Perhaps that’s how meaningful lives are built—not through dramatic moments, but through thoughtful ones.

One healthier choice.

One kind gesture.

One new conversation.

One hopeful dream.

One small step at a time.

And perhaps that’s exactly what The Next Chapter is meant to be—not a destination, but an invitation to keep walking forward with curiosity, gratitude, and hope.
