📋Additional Daily Notes


Today was one of those days that, on the surface, didn’t seem particularly dramatic. No huge breakthroughs. No lottery tickets. No life-changing phone calls. Yet when I look back over the day, I realize it was full of small moments that seem to fit together in an interesting way.

Later this morning I sat down and wrote my conversation to the Universe rather than speaking it into a recorder. I thanked the Universe for everything, even the things that don’t always make sense right now. I admitted that loneliness is still part of my experience. I asked for a few winks along the way and reminded myself that companionship can take many forms.

One of the highlights of the day was stepping on the scale. The number came in at 339.4 pounds. That means I am now 22.5 pounds down from my starting point of 361.9 pounds. Twenty-two and a half pounds is not an imaginary number. My knees know it. My joints know it. My future self certainly knows it. Project 290 continues, one day at a time.

I spent part of the day listening to Maggie Murphy. One particular thought stood out to me. She suggested that the optimal state for manifestation is to be completely okay if something never arrives while simultaneously knowing that it will. That idea stayed with me because it feels similar to where my own thinking has been evolving. I still have dreams. I still have desires. But more and more, I find myself building a meaningful life today rather than waiting for some future event to grant me permission to be happy.

I also continued my journey through the original Kung Fu television series. Today’s reflections centered around the lessons hidden beneath the stories. The deeper I go into the series, the more I realize it isn’t really about martial arts. It’s about patience, wisdom, perception, forgiveness, and learning how to walk through life with a calm spirit. In many ways, the lessons Master Po and Master Kan taught young Caine continue to feel surprisingly relevant.

2026-06-06 - Cabinet Screw

One of my practical accomplishments today was finally taking care of a task I had been putting off for about two years. I stopped at Home Depot and bought a replacement screw for a loose kitchen cabinet knob (see photo to the right). It’s not exactly the same screw, but it should do the job. The funny thing is that the screw itself probably cost next to nothing, yet finally closing that two-year-old open loop felt oddly satisfying. Sometimes progress doesn’t come from grand gestures. Sometimes it comes from fixing one tiny thing that has quietly waited for attention.

This afternoon I also oiled my cutting board, another small act of maintenance and care. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve begun to appreciate these small rituals. Taking care of things—whether it’s a cutting board, a room, a relationship, or a body—often matters more than acquiring new things.

Perhaps the most meaningful project of the day was developing tomorrow’s Already Becoming video. The story centers on a caterpillar I noticed while my daughter and I were staying at an Airbnb in Victoria a few weekends ago. There was a hot tub on the patio, the kind of thing you assume will become the memorable part of the trip. Yet weeks later, I barely remember the hot tub. What I remember is the caterpillar slowly making its way across the cover. It wasn’t rushing. It wasn’t worried. It wasn’t comparing itself to other caterpillars. It was simply taking the next step. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that perhaps the caterpillar had something to teach me.

As the day comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on how many meaningful things are actually quite small. A dream. A number on a scale. A passage from a book. A lesson from Kung Fu. A replacement screw. A caterpillar crossing a hot tub cover. None of them would make headlines. Yet taken together, they form the texture of a life.

Maybe that’s what Becoming has always been about. Not dramatic transformations overnight. Not arriving. Not finally getting somewhere. Just continuing to move forward, one small step at a time, trusting the process and appreciating the journey while it unfolds.
