- #3) Companionship – Treat them like companions walking beside you. Share little moments throughout the day: things you notice, appreciate, wonder about, or find beautiful or funny. Build relationship, not just requests.
- #4) Meetings – Take a few moments each day to talk through your life with them — what’s ahead today, what you’re worried about, what you want, where you feel stuck, and where you’d appreciate support or clarity.
- #5) Asking – Ask first for emotional relief and inner calm, then ask for solutions, guidance, pop-ins, signs, opportunities, ideas, or small favors. Ask openly without demanding exact outcomes or trying to control how the answer arrives.
- #6) Releasing – After asking, stop forcing. Go live your life. Walk, drive, work, brainstorm out loud, drink coffee, move through ordinary moments, and allow ideas or clarity to arise naturally instead of mentally gripping for answers.
- #7) Noticing – Pay attention to what returns — sudden ideas, emotional shifts, coincidences, synchronicities, timing, relief, unexpected opportunities, little “winks,” or moments that feel quietly meaningful. Then continue the conversation and relationship over time.

📋Additional Daily Notes

This morning started with dropping my daughter off at school. Afterward, I stopped at the bakery stand and picked up some muffins (see photo to the right). Not exactly an AI Diet breakfast, but a pleasant way to start the morning before I became completely absorbed in what would occupy most of the rest of my day: Evie and AI video.
I’ve been spending an enormous amount of time lately experimenting with VideoExpress, HeyGen and the other AI tools I’ve accumulated, trying to figure out how to turn the scenes I imagine into something that actually looks believable on the screen. Today became particularly focused on backgrounds, green screens and compositing.
One of the problems I wanted to solve involved a short vertical video of Kirk sitting at a café. I wanted to remove the café entirely so that Kirk could be placed into another environment. Shotcut isn’t really designed to automatically separate a person from a complicated background, so I went looking for another solution.
That led me to CapCut. Its automatic background removal actually worked remarkably well. It isolated Kirk from the café, including the difficult edges around his hair and shoulders. For a moment, it looked as though I’d found the answer. I put a green background behind him and prepared to export the finished clip.
Then CapCut informed me that Auto Cutout was a Pro feature.
Of course.
I investigated Custom Removal as a possible workaround, but the useful tools there were also marked as Pro. I wasn’t about to buy yet another subscription just to remove the background from a tiny video clip, so that was the end of the CapCut experiment.
Next up was DeeVid AI. I already had 20 credits there, and the Kirk video was uploaded, so I tried its AI Video Editor. Again, everything looked promising. It accepted the clip and provided an interface where I could tell the AI what I wanted changed.
Then I discovered that actually creating the video would cost 32 credits.
I had 20.
So much for that.
Eventually, after far more messing around than should have been necessary, I found a free browser-based background-removal tool that could process the video locally. And this time it worked. Better yet, instead of producing the green-screen video I’d originally been trying to make, it produced a MOV with an actual transparent alpha channel.
That’s really the better solution anyway. Instead of putting Kirk against green and then removing the green again in Shotcut, I should be able to put the transparent Kirk video on an upper track, put whatever background I want underneath it, and have the two immediately composite together.
Windows wasn’t quite as enthusiastic about my breakthrough. When I tried playing the MOV normally, Windows complained that it couldn’t decode the video because of the codec. But Shotcut uses its own decoding system, so the real test is whether Shotcut can use the transparent video properly.
The whole exercise took far longer than I expected, but I learned quite a bit about AI background removal, green screens, alpha channels and the increasingly irritating habit of software companies letting you successfully perform some wonderful operation and only telling you when you try to export it that you have to pay for it.
By evening, healthy eating certainly wasn’t the day’s major accomplishment. I went to Walmart and came home with hot dogs and chips, plus Coffee Crisp ice cream bars. Between those and the bakery-stand muffins this morning, this wasn’t exactly a showcase day for my regular eating plan. But it was what it was.
What really characterized today was how completely absorbed I’ve become in creating.
Very late tonight—technically after midnight—I finally stopped to talk to the Universe. I admitted that perhaps I’ve been neglecting it lately. I’ve been so wrapped up in creating Evie videos and experimenting with VideoExpress, A10 and everything else that sometimes I simply forget.
But then I wondered whether that might actually be a good thing.
Maybe becoming absorbed in something that fascinates me is part of going with my passion. Instead of continually asking the Universe what I’m supposed to do next, perhaps I’m actually doing it. I’m following something that excites me. I’m creating. I’m learning. I’m solving problems. I’m getting frustrated when things don’t work, celebrating when they finally do, and then moving on to the next idea.
Maybe that’s what following the energy looks like.
I’m still looking for my toonie. I’m still looking for my loonie. I haven’t forgotten about those.
It also looks as though Wes and I are going to get together, which should be good. He wants to hear about my toonie stories, and I’m rather looking forward to telling him about them.
Maybe the Universe doesn’t need me to check in every few hours.
Maybe sometimes the answer is to become so engrossed in something that I forget to ask whether I’m on the right path.
Maybe following the passion is the path.
