- ✅ #06: ☕ Over AM Coffee, say Terje’s Script! (*** NOTES ***) (1:15 pm!)
- #1) Hello – Begin by acknowledging them out loud. Simply say “Hello Universe” and open the conversation. The goal is not perfection or certainty, but connection. Say “THANK YOU” for everything and be SPECIFIC about manifestations!
- #2) Honesty – Speak truthfully about what you actually feel — fear, loneliness, frustration, gratitude, confusion, hope, excitement, doubt, or exhaustion. Don’t perform spirituality. Just be real.
- #3) Companionship – Treat them like companions walking beside you. Share little moments throughout the day: things you notice, appreciate, wonder about, or find beautiful or funny. Build relationship, not just requests.
- #4) Meetings – Take a few moments each day to talk through your life with them — what’s ahead today, what you’re worried about, what you want, where you feel stuck, and where you’d appreciate support or clarity.
- #5) Asking – Ask first for emotional relief and inner calm, then ask for solutions, guidance, pop-ins, signs, opportunities, ideas, or small favors. Ask openly without demanding exact outcomes or trying to control how the answer arrives.
- #6) Releasing – After asking, stop forcing. Go live your life. Walk, drive, work, brainstorm out loud, drink coffee, move through ordinary moments, and allow ideas or clarity to arise naturally instead of mentally gripping for answers.
- #7) Noticing – Pay attention to what returns — sudden ideas, emotional shifts, coincidences, synchronicities, timing, relief, unexpected opportunities, little “winks,” or moments that feel quietly meaningful. Then continue the conversation and relationship over time.

📋Additional Daily Notes
Some days are full of action. Others are quieter, but they leave you thinking long after they’re over. Today was definitely one of those days.

I spent part of the day continuing my journey through cinema history by finishing Part 1 of The Birth of a Nation (see photo to the right) while at Tim Hortons near the Home Depot. It’s a fascinating experience because you have to separate two very different things: the film’s enormous influence on filmmaking and its deeply offensive and historically distorted message. The first half tells the story of the Civil War through the lives of two families—the Camerons in the South and the Stonemans in the North. It ends with General Robert E. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, closing the chapter on the Civil War itself before moving into the controversial Reconstruction portion. A very racist movie, and gives a very distorted view of various things, but it is part of movie history nonetheless.
That naturally sent me down one of my favorite rabbit holes. I became curious about April 9th and discovered something I hadn’t known before. Exactly one hundred years after Lee surrendered at Appomattox—April 9, 1965—the Beatles released Ticket to Ride in the United Kingdom while they were in the middle of filming Help!. It’s amazing how history weaves itself together. One century separates two completely unrelated events, yet both occupy their own important place in history. It’s those little discoveries that make learning so enjoyable.
The second half of my day became an investing lesson.
A few months ago, I made one of the biggest financial decisions I’ve ever made: I sold virtually everything in my Fidelity retirement accounts and rebuilt the portfolio from the ground up. Since then, I’ve occasionally wondered the same question that almost every investor asks sooner or later:
“What if I had simply done nothing?”
Today, I decided to stop wondering.
I dug out my old Fidelity statements from before the sale. There they were—the original holdings, every stock, every share. Together, we reconstructed what those accounts looked like before I touched them.
Then came the interesting part.
Instead of comparing percentages or charts, we asked a much simpler question. If those exact shares were still sitting in those accounts today, what would they be worth?
It took some work to reconstruct everything, but when the estimate was complete, the answer was sobering.
Had I simply held the original portfolio, my retirement accounts would have been worth more.
“Why did I sell?”
“Why didn’t I just leave things alone?”
“That was a mistake.”
The funny thing about hindsight is that it’s undefeated. It never loses. Looking backward, every decision seems obvious because we already know the outcome.
But investing doesn’t happen backward.
It happens looking forward.
After sitting with those numbers for a while, I realized something important.
Yes, the old portfolio appears to have done better over these past few months. That doesn’t automatically mean the decision was wrong.
Why?
Because I’m not holding the same portfolio anymore—and that’s by design.
Today, my retirement accounts contain much larger positions in Amazon and Alphabet than they did before. Those two companies have become core holdings because I believe they are exceptionally well positioned for the coming decade. Between Amazon’s cloud infrastructure, logistics, AI investments, and advertising business, and Alphabet’s dominance in search, YouTube, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, I feel comfortable giving them a larger role in my portfolio.
At the same time, I still own significant positions in NVIDIA and Tesla in other investment accounts. In other words, I didn’t abandon those companies. I simply spread my exposure differently.
That realization changed the way I looked at today’s numbers.
I began thinking:
“I exchanged one portfolio for another because my convictions changed.”
Those are two very different ways of looking at exactly the same event.
The first creates regret.
The second creates responsibility.
One of the reasons I enjoy investing so much is that it’s really an exercise in decision-making. Every stock purchase is a prediction about the future. Every sale is a statement that you believe your money will work harder somewhere else. None of us gets perfect information. We simply gather the best evidence we can, make our decisions, and live with the results.
What today’s exercise really gave me wasn’t disappointment.
It gave me closure.
For months, that little voice in the back of my mind occasionally wondered what the old portfolio might have become. Now I have a reasonable answer. I don’t have to imagine it anymore.
And strangely enough, once you know the answer, it becomes easier to let it go.
You can learn from yesterday without living in yesterday.
Whether it’s investing, relationships, career choices, or personal growth, constantly replaying alternate histories doesn’t change where you are. The only thing that matters is what you do with the opportunities in front of you today.
As I wrapped up the evening, I found myself thinking about both the Civil War and investing. In a strange way, they shared a common theme.
History is important because it teaches us.
But history is not where we live.
Tomorrow is.
And tomorrow’s results will come not from wishing I had held a different portfolio, but from making the best possible decisions with the one I have now.
