Today felt like one of those days where nothing particularly dramatic happened, yet a common thread seemed to run through everything.

The morning started with more reflection about life, passion, and what comes next. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the difference between things I feel obligated to do and things that genuinely excite me. The newsletter has been front and center in those thoughts. The more I think about it, the more I realize that while I enjoy helping people discover local events, what really interests me is something deeper: people, conversations, stories, and connections.

2026-06-19 - $1 Loonie Gift!

That theme kept showing up all day.

This evening I found myself at McDonald’s, laptop open, watching videos from Shannon Donohue-Simpson, whose content I’ve found thoughtful and encouraging (see photo to the right). I overheard three young teen boys talking. They were trying to come up with enough money to buy a sandwich. One mentioned that all they needed was a loonie. They were wondering whether there might be one lying outside somewhere. I’ve spent enough time asking the Universe for “winks” and finding loonies and coins to smile at the situation. So I gave them a loonie. They were grateful, thanked me, and headed off to buy their sandwich, and one waved bye as they left.

Later in the day I found myself thinking again about an old dream I’ve carried around for years: opening a coffee shop in Comox. Not because I desperately want to sell coffee, but because I love the idea of creating a place where people gather, talk, share ideas, and build community. I could almost picture it.

Living downtown. Walking to a little coffee shop. Knowing the regulars. Hosting conversations. Maybe a guitar night. Maybe a book club. Maybe simply a place where interesting people cross paths.

Whether that ever happens is another question entirely, but the vision still appeals to me.

On the drive home I found myself thinking that maybe the point wasn’t whether I would find a loonie later. Maybe the point was that, for a brief moment, I got to be the answer to someone else’s search.

The day ended with another conversation with the Universe. I asked for guidance. Bashar talks about following your highest excitement, your passion, because that’s how your higher self communicates. If that’s true, then perhaps today offered a few clues.

Not answers.

Just clues.

Coffee shops.

Community.

Conversations.

Helping people.

Meeting new friends.

Listening to stories.

Finding connections where I didn’t expect them.

Maybe that’s what today was really about.
