Daily Notes

This morning started quietly, but with that kind of weight you feel when reflection sneaks up on you before coffee. I sat for a bit thinking about the stretch of my life — sixty-five years of trying to be good, to do the right thing, to walk the straight line even when I didn’t know where it led.

When you get older, you start to see how many of those “good” decisions were just well-dressed detours. Joining the church. Chasing stability instead of passion. Letting the years blur together under the banner of responsibility. I can see now how many doors I closed thinking I was preserving something sacred. Still, I can’t be bitter — because somehow, against the odds, the life that came out of all that still turned out pretty good. Not perfect, not grand, but good enough to be grateful for. Maybe that’s the Law of Attraction in its most merciful form — even when I wasn’t clear about what I wanted, something in me kept reaching for the light.

I decided I’d keep the day light — no heavy introspection, no big cosmic missions. Just errands, small gestures of normalcy. Thrifty’s for a Blackjack ticket. Dollarama for a red sink mat and a pack of Panasonic AAA batteries. The kind of mundane, satisfying errands that remind you that being alive is sometimes just about keeping things running — sink, remotes, heart, mind.

From there I swung over to Costco — the cathedral of bulk. I loaded up the cart with rolled oats, applesauce, and the familiar rhythm of the day carried me forward. Until, of course, the Universe decided to test my sense of humor.

I went to the washroom. Two minutes. Maybe three. Came back, and my cart was gone. I stood there blinking like maybe it was invisible. Turns out, another shopper had mistaken it for his, paid for everything, and left. Gone — just like that. The absurdity of it hit me: I’ve been asking for signs, for winks, for miracles, and the Universe gives me a vanishing grocery cart.

I’ll be honest — I felt deflated. Angry at first, then just tired. Because it’s not really about the applesauce, is it? It’s about the symbolism. You try to move through the world believing it’s conspiring to help you, and then it seems to steal your oats and make you start over. But maybe that’s the joke. Maybe that’s exactly how the Universe teaches detachment — with carts instead of cars, with patience instead of promises.

After that, I drove to Benino’s to regroup. It was one of those grey, cozy Comox afternoons where you can actually feel your breath again once you sit down. I ordered a coffee, opened my Kindle, and found myself searching YouTube for Neville Goddard imagination explained simply. Something about Neville always steadies me — the way he insists that the imagination is the creative act, that feeling is the secret.

2025-10-06 - Benino's

I clicked on a video from 1955 — Neville talking about imagining yourself already living the life you want, not chasing it (see photo to the right). I watched and listened, letting the words sink in while the café hummed around me. For a few minutes, I could feel it — the end state, the fulfillment, the quiet satisfaction of everything already being okay.

By evening, I was back home, resetting the rhythm. I weighed in — 304.7 lbs, down 57.2 lbs total since the start. That’s nearly 60 pounds of Becoming made visible. I logged my Metamucil, vitamins, collagen, moisturizer, Dove cream, and all the little rituals that keep me anchored. I even checked off my “Martini Water” ritual, my cufflink touch, my calm smirk, my ring whisper — all the micro-anchors that keep my day sacred.

The rest of the night unfolded quietly. I worked on the computer while Port Protection Alaska played on my tablet beside me. There’s something about that show — the solitude, the resourcefulness, the mix of isolation and interdependence — that feels like a mirror. Each of them out there in the Alaskan wilderness trying to carve out a life, make sense of small miracles, survive the unexpected. It’s not so different from what I’m doing, really.

So tonight I’ll put on my Neville for night & naps subliminal, the one that doesn’t focus on faces or fantasy but on the feeling of being at ease in love, in purpose, in life. And as I drift off, I’ll whisper what I wrote this morning:

“Tonight, as I sleep, I open myself to the Universe. Show me the next inspired action that is mine to take — clear, simple, and unmistakable. And if there is something already in my life, right in front of me, that I have not yet seen — reveal it to me.”
