    • #2) Honesty – Speak truthfully about what you actually feel — fear, loneliness, frustration, gratitude, confusion, hope, excitement, doubt, or exhaustion. Don’t perform spirituality. Just be real.
    • #3) Companionship – Treat them like companions walking beside you. Share little moments throughout the day: things you notice, appreciate, wonder about, or find beautiful or funny. Build relationship, not just requests.
    • #4) Meetings – Take a few moments each day to talk through your life with them — what’s ahead today, what you’re worried about, what you want, where you feel stuck, and where you’d appreciate support or clarity.
    • #5) Asking – Ask first for emotional relief and inner calm, then ask for solutions, guidance, pop-ins, signs, opportunities, ideas, or small favors. Ask openly without demanding exact outcomes or trying to control how the answer arrives.
    • #6) Releasing – After asking, stop forcing. Go live your life. Walk, drive, work, brainstorm out loud, drink coffee, move through ordinary moments, and allow ideas or clarity to arise naturally instead of mentally gripping for answers.
    • #7) Noticing – Pay attention to what returns — sudden ideas, emotional shifts, coincidences, synchronicities, timing, relief, unexpected opportunities, little “winks,” or moments that feel quietly meaningful. Then continue the conversation and relationship over time.

📋Additional Daily Notes

My daughter took the morning off school today, so at around 12:30 p.m. I drove her over to Vanier and dropped her off for the afternoon. With her safely deposited, I decided it was time to find myself some lunch.

My original plan was to have brunch at Manvirro’s Indian Restaurant. That didn’t work out because they weren’t serving lunch at noon today, so I moved on to Plan B and drove over to the Bamboo Inn in Comox. No luck there either—they weren’t serving lunch. Apparently getting lunch at lunchtime was going to require considerably more effort than I had anticipated.

2026-09-25 - Driftwood Dim Sum

Eventually I ended up back at the Driftwood Chinese Restaurant, and the third attempt was the charm. They had their lunch buffet along with dim sum, so I settled in with my food and my tablet and watched the K-drama “Queen of Tears” while I ate (see photo to the right). Chinese food, dim sum and Korean television—not remotely what I had planned when I left Vanier, but it turned out to be a pretty enjoyable way to spend lunch.

Afterward I headed home, but there wasn’t much time to relax. I managed to squeeze in a quick fifteen-minute nap before it was time to get back into the car and return to Vanier to pick my daughter up from school. Sometimes my naps seem to require almost as much scheduling as everything else in my life.

A fair bit of my creative energy today continued going into my “Interactive Romance” idea. I’m deliberately not saying too much about exactly what I’m developing there yet, because it’s still evolving, but I’m becoming increasingly intrigued by the idea of creating a different kind of interactive romance experience. Rather than simply writing something and throwing it out into the world when it’s finished, I’m wondering whether readers could become part of the experience while it’s unfolding—reading along, reacting, discussing things and giving me feedback. I’m particularly interested in building a community around it and getting perspectives from people who can bring experiences and cultural knowledge to the project that I don’t have myself.

That led me to think about Facebook today as well. Rather than relying entirely on comments attached to the stories themselves, perhaps Facebook could eventually become another way of bringing interested readers together and letting conversations develop around what I’m creating. I’m still figuring out exactly what all of this is going to become, but that’s actually one of the things I enjoy most about a new idea. At this stage almost everything is still possible.

I also spent some time thinking about another creative project that has been sitting on my plate for quite a while: my Epic Evie story. We’ve done an enormous amount of planning for that project, and I think we’ve reached the point where planning it further may actually be keeping me from doing the thing that matters most—writing it. The next chapter is waiting for me. Maybe it’s finally time to stop designing the road and start driving down it.

Tonight I headed back out again, this time to McDonald’s. I had two of their $5 McValue meals, along with a free ice cream cone that I redeemed with one of my rewards. Two McValue meals might be stretching the definition of “value,” but apparently I was hungry tonight.

While I was there I got talking with Anna, the manager, and somehow our conversation turned to K-dramas. Considering I’d been sitting at Driftwood watching “Queen of Tears” earlier in the day, the timing was pretty appropriate. Anna told me that her favorite K-drama is “Mr. Queen” and recommended that I watch it. So now I have another one to investigate. Apparently today accidentally became K-drama day: “Queen of Tears” over dim sum and Chinese food at lunchtime, and “Mr. Queen” recommended to me over McDonald’s tonight.

I also spent part of the day thinking about my daughters CVEMUN project and what might eventually be possible with it. There are always more projects than hours in the day around here, which is probably both the problem and the fun of it.

So today took me from Vanier to Manvirro’s, over to the Bamboo Inn in Comox, then to the Driftwood for Chinese food, dim sum and “Queen of Tears,” back home for my lightning-fast fifteen-minute nap, back to Vanier, and eventually out to McDonald’s for two McValue meals, a free ice cream cone and an unexpected K-drama recommendation from Anna.

In between all of that, my head was bouncing between HeartPOV, interactive storytelling, Facebook communities, Epic Evie, websites and whatever idea happened to wander through next.

A pretty typical day, in other words. 😄
