Wednesday started with a thoughtful drive after dropping my son off at school. The morning felt different somehow—one of those reflective days where gratitude and frustration seem to occupy the same space. As I drove, I found myself thankful for my health, my family, and the financial security I’ve been fortunate enough to build, yet also wondering why some of the things I’ve wanted most in life have felt so elusive. I thought about relationships, happiness, and the strange journey that life has been. It was a raw conversation with the Universe, full of questions, hopes, and a desire for more joy, more love, and more meaningful connection in the years ahead.

Earlier in the day I stopped at McDonald’s for coffee and some quiet thinking time. Sitting there with my tablet and coffee, I watched YouTube videos ranging from political commentary to a documentary about John Lennon. There is something comforting about those simple moments—just a cup of coffee, a comfortable booth, and a chance to let the world slow down for a while. Looking out the window, I noticed dark clouds gathering outside, giving the morning a contemplative atmosphere that matched my mood.

One of the more unexpected moments of the day happened while picking up chicken feed. Near a stack of compost bags, I spotted the black cat with a “smoker’s meow” wandering around the yard. The cat seemed completely at ease, casually exploring its surroundings as if it owned the place. I snapped a few photos and found myself smiling. Little encounters like that often end up becoming some of the most memorable moments of the day.

The stock market remained on my mind throughout the day as well. I reviewed some recent trades, including Rocket Lab and Take-Two Interactive, both of which triggered limit orders. Much of my attention, however, was focused on Micron. There seems to be growing excitement around the company heading into earnings later this month, and I spent time thinking about possible buy levels and whether I should add additional shares on pullbacks. As always, the challenge is balancing optimism with patience.

Back at home, I continued my ongoing battle with technology—this time involving my new Xbox controller. After several failed attempts to connect it through Bluetooth, I finally plugged it in with a cable and let Windows recognize it. Eventually the controller appeared correctly in the Windows settings and game controller diagnostics. After some trial and error, GTA V finally recognized it, and I found myself standing in Los Santos with Franklin on screen, moving around with the controller instead of a keyboard. It was one of those small victories that feels much bigger when you’ve spent an hour troubleshooting.

2026-06-03 - Packed McD

As evening arrived, I made another stop at McDonald’s and found the restaurant absolutely packed (see photo to the right). The lineup stretched across the dining room, and there appeared to be a large group of students or young workers dressed in black uniforms moving through the restaurant. The place buzzed with activity. Watching the crowd, I was reminded how these ordinary places become gathering spots for entire communities. Everyone seemed to be on their own journey, stopping briefly for coffee, dinner, conversation, or simply a moment to themselves. I decided that it was too much of a crowd, so I passed on McD coffee tonight!

Back home I created another issue of the newsletter which will go out at 7 am tomorrow morning.

The day ended much as it began—with reflection. I thought about the future, about happiness, about the bridge of incidents that may still be unfolding in front of me. I thought about soulmates, friendships, family, bicycles, stock charts, black cats, and cups of coffee. Life remains a strange mixture of gratitude and longing. Yet despite the questions that still linger, I find myself continuing forward, looking for little winks from the Universe, one day at a time.
