2026-01-28 - Parksville

Today unfolded in a quiet, steady way — the kind of day that doesn’t feel dramatic while you’re in it, but later reveals itself as deeply grounding.

Around midday, I felt a little restless and decided to take a short drive. Nothing planned. No destination in mind. Just movement. I ended up in Parksville and stopped at Jalapeños Mexican Food for lunch. I ordered the taco trio with chips and salsa — three different tacos, rice, beans, and something warm and filling (see photo to the right). It felt good to sit somewhere colourful and alive, surrounded by people going about their own days.

After lunch, instead of rushing straight home, I drove about a mile down the road and stopped at Serious Coffee. I ordered a coffee and a muffin and sat in the sunlight for a few minutes. The café was calm, open, and bright. While ordering, I joked with the woman at the counter that since there’s a Serious Coffee in Campbell River but not in Courtenay, I guess we must have “unserious” or “frivolous” coffee here. She laughed. It was a small, human moment — easy, light, and real.

I didn’t linger too long. I had to get back to Courtenay in time to pick up my daughter from school. That felt important — enjoying the pause, but not losing sight of responsibility. Balance.

Later, once I was home, I checked on my 5000 “bright yellow” business card order for the newsletter and saw that the shipment had officially gone out. Twenty pounds of paper and intention moving toward me. Scheduled to arrive by early next week. Seeing that “shipped” status felt quietly powerful. It’s proof that this isn’t just an idea anymore. It’s infrastructure. It’s real.

I also reflected on the fact that my current cards haven’t been bringing in many new subscribers. Instead of feeling discouraged, I felt relieved that the new batch is coming. The first version did its job — it tested the concept. This next version is about scaling and improving. Iteration in action.

At some point in the afternoon, I noticed that Maggie Murphy had posted a new video about “manifesting” over a million dollars in a year. The timing made me smile. Not because of magic thinking, but because it mirrored what I’ve been focusing on lately: clarity, systems, consistency, and long-term alignment.

Looking back, today wasn’t flashy.

I drove.
I ate.
I had coffee.
I joked with a stranger.
I picked up my daughter.
I checked my systems.
I saw forward movement.

No drama. No spirals. No big emotional swings.

Just a man running his life with more steadiness than he used to.

These are the days that build something quietly.

And I’m learning to appreciate them.
