📋Additional Daily Notes

Today started out like any other, but looking back on it now, it feels like one of those quietly productive, grounded days that don’t seem like much in the moment but actually move things forward in a real way. I went out this afternoon to get my COVID booster shot, just one of those practical things that needs to get done. Nothing exciting about it, but it felt good to check it off and take care of it.

2026-05-01 - Jackie Brown

After that, I headed over to Benino’s and settled in with an Americano, adding just a bit of oat milk. I brought my tablet with me and continued watching Jackie Brown (see photo to the right). There’s something about sitting in a coffee shop like that—people around, conversations happening in the background, light coming through the windows—that makes everything feel a bit more real, a bit more grounded. I wasn’t rushing anywhere. I wasn’t trying to make anything happen. I was just there, present, watching the movie and letting the afternoon unfold.

This evening I got a call from Microsoft, and they walked me through syncing my OneDrive photos. That ended up being a bigger deal than I expected. I finally figured out how to get everything off my photo albums and onto my hard drive, and from there I’m planning to move it all onto iDrive for safekeeping. All the family photos, all those years of memories—now they’re actually backed up properly. That’s been something hanging over me for a while, so getting that sorted out felt really good. Like one of those invisible weights just quietly lifted.

Throughout the day, I also kept thinking about connection, about what I want in my life moving forward, and how that fits with everything I’ve been exploring lately. Not in a pressured way, just in a reflective way. It’s interesting how those thoughts can sit in the background while you’re doing ordinary things—drinking coffee, watching a movie, organizing files—and still feel important.

And then there’s the newsletter. I checked the numbers again today, and they’ve ticked up once more. Open rate now at 72.73%, with 96 people opening out of 132. That’s not a huge jump all at once, but it’s steady. Consistent. Quiet progress. The kind that doesn’t make a lot of noise but adds up over time. No unsubscribes again either, which tells me something is resonating, even if it doesn’t feel dramatic.

When I put it all together, today wasn’t about any one big moment. It was about a series of small, real things: taking care of my health, sitting in a place where life is happening, protecting my family’s memories, and continuing to build something with the newsletter that people are actually responding to.

Nothing flashy. Nothing overwhelming. Just steady movement forward.

And maybe that’s the point.
