📋Additional Daily Notes
Today unfolded in a way that didn’t look dramatic from the outside, but felt meaningful from the inside.
It started with a simple intention: keep building, keep showing up, keep doing the small things that add up. No big announcements. No grand gestures. Just movement.
I spent time working on the details of the newsletter business card — finalizing designs, exporting files properly for print, learning more about bleed, PDFs, and all the small technical things that make a real-world project actually work. After some trial and error, I finally had both sides of the business card set up correctly and sent off for printing. Five thousand cards are now officially in production. That still feels a little unreal.
Later, I stopped at the Comox Valley Mall. It was my first time really walking through the interior. Instead of rushing through, I took my time, noticed the flow of people, and quietly placed some of my business cards in visible spots using removable putty. It wasn’t flashy. It wasn’t perfect. But it was real action. Marketing in the real world. Learning by doing.
After that, I headed to Benino’s for dinner and some quiet time. I had a chicken chipotle panini with vegetable soup and tried a London Fog for the first time. It was surprisingly good—smooth, comforting, and perfect for a cool evening. I also treated myself to gelato: one scoop of eggnog and another Italian flavor I couldn’t quite remember. It felt like a small reward after a productive day, not an escape.

While I was there, I finished reading It Works by R.H.J. I’d been going through it carefully, highlighter in hand, marking the lines that stood out: about clarity, intention, focus, and knowing what you want. The book isn’t complicated, but it’s direct. It reminded me that consistency matters more than complexity.
I decided today that I’m going to apply the method seriously: writing down what I want, reviewing it daily, adjusting it when needed, and keeping it private. Not as magical thinking, but as a way of training my attention and staying aligned with what I’m building.
While at Benino’s, I watched Alex Honnold climb the Taipei 101 tower. He moved slowly, deliberately, one grip at a time. It felt symbolic. No shortcuts. No spectacle. Just steady progress. At the same time, I sat there with my tablet, my notebook, and my projects—doing my own version of climbing.
I took photos along the way: my meal, my book, my notes, the quiet atmosphere of the space (see photo to the right). Looking back at them, they capture something important. This wasn’t a chaotic day. It wasn’t frantic. It was calm, focused, and intentional.
Kristina and Firoz arrived from out of town to stay for a couple of days.
By the end of the day, nothing “huge” had happened.
No viral moment.
No overnight success.
No sudden breakthrough.
But a lot of small things happened:
I took action.
I learned.
I reflected.
I treated myself kindly.
I stayed engaged.
I didn’t quit.
And that’s the work.
This is what building something looks like most days. Quiet effort. Small experiments. Incremental learning. Showing up again tomorrow.
And tonight, that feels like enough.
