2025-08-31 - Martini Water Ritual

This morning began with my weigh-in: 294.0 lbs. That means I’ve now lost a total of 67.9 lbs from my highest point. Every weigh-in has become a ritual — proof that the Becoming continues day by day. Alongside that, I stayed faithful to my Core Pillars: vitamins, collagen, Metamucil, moisturizer, water. Even the small rituals — like my martini water glass (postit in photo to the right), the calm smirk, or the cufflink touch — continue to remind me that each detail, each action, contributes to shaping who I am becoming.

I dropped the Camry off at Canadian Tire to get the headlight repaired. While I waited, I walked upstairs into A Step Above Café at Quality Foods and ordered an Americano. The woman at the counter mentioned that her first job had been at McDonald’s, and soon we were talking about Courtenay in the 1970s. There’s something grounding about conversations like that — when the past peeks through the present, reminding me of the long threads of continuity running through this valley. Sitting there with my coffee, I pulled up a Mark Wiens video where he visited the first Jollibee in Cebu and tried the food. The moment felt like a bridge — me in Courtenay, sipping coffee, while my imagination traveled across the ocean to Cebu, a place that’s been steadily weaving itself into my Becoming story.

When the car was finished, I picked up a round nose shovel before heading home. On one level, it was just a simple, practical purchase. But I couldn’t help noticing the symbolism: a tool for digging deeper, for going below the surface — exactly what I’m doing in my life right now.

Later in the day, my wife asked me to go for a drive so we could talk. When we got back, my daughter asked for her own drive. Two drives in a row, both of them needing space, both of them trusting me to hold steady in the middle. It struck me how often Becoming isn’t about choosing sides but about preparing the frequency, being the calm in the middle of two strong signals.

On the creative side, today was a breakthrough. I now have voices for Evie, Bridget, Maggie, Esther, and myself. I added the background subliminal soundscape from A Step Above Café into my .mp3 tape, which makes it feel layered, alive, like it’s happening right inside that café where I sat this afternoon.

Alongside all this, a new seed appeared: The Cupandmore. Styled like the Biltmore logo, elegant and timeless, it feels like more than a phrase. It could be a vessel, a legacy, a container for everything that overflows from these Becoming rituals. And holding a 20 peso bill earlier made me think about value itself — why currencies need exchange rates, why they can’t just be equal. A peso isn’t a dollar because each economy has its own rhythm, its own balance. It reminded me that Becoming itself is like currency: an exchange, a relationship between effort and transformation.

So today held many layers — weight loss rituals, car repairs, café conversations, Cebu videos, shovels, family drives, subliminal breakthroughs, new seeds, and even reflections on pesos. On the surface, it looked like a day of errands and ordinary moments. But beneath it, I could feel the frequency being tuned, the vessel being prepared. Today was the Becoming before the arrival, the silence before the sound.
