    • #2) Honesty – Speak truthfully about what you actually feel — fear, loneliness, frustration, gratitude, confusion, hope, excitement, doubt, or exhaustion. Don’t perform spirituality. Just be real.
    • #3) Companionship – Treat them like companions walking beside you. Share little moments throughout the day: things you notice, appreciate, wonder about, or find beautiful or funny. Build relationship, not just requests.
    • #4) Meetings – Take a few moments each day to talk through your life with them — what’s ahead today, what you’re worried about, what you want, where you feel stuck, and where you’d appreciate support or clarity.
    • #5) Asking – Ask first for emotional relief and inner calm, then ask for solutions, guidance, pop-ins, signs, opportunities, ideas, or small favors. Ask openly without demanding exact outcomes or trying to control how the answer arrives.
    • #6) Releasing – After asking, stop forcing. Go live your life. Walk, drive, work, brainstorm out loud, drink coffee, move through ordinary moments, and allow ideas or clarity to arise naturally instead of mentally gripping for answers.
    • #7) Noticing – Pay attention to what returns — sudden ideas, emotional shifts, coincidences, synchronicities, timing, relief, unexpected opportunities, little “winks,” or moments that feel quietly meaningful. Then continue the conversation and relationship over time.

📋Additional Daily Notes

2026-10-06 - Sweet Potatoes

My Tuesday began with dropping my daughter off and stopping outside Thrifty Foods at 9:09 a.m. I recorded a little message to the Universe before going inside. I was looking for those Japanese sweet potatoes everybody seems to be talking about, but I also mentioned cookies, breakfast at McDonald’s, a lottery ticket, and perhaps a toonie. Underneath that little shopping list was a simpler request: show me some love.

Thrifty Foods didn’t have the purple potatoes I wanted. The names on these things can be confusing—sweet potatoes, yams, different colours of skin and flesh—but I bought a few varieties to try (see photo to the right). My idea was to find something I could prepare at home and bring along with my black coffee at McDonald’s. Later, I roasted a batch in the air fryer for an hour.

I spent some time thinking about Andrew Taylor’s SpudFit approach and how it compares with Derek Simnett’s way of eating. For me, the question goes beyond losing weight. I want a structure that helps with the food patterns I keep returning to. The simplicity of potatoes and sweet potatoes appeals to me because it would remove so many daily decisions.

I’m considering a 30-day experiment with potatoes, sweet potatoes, black coffee, water, and B12 spray. We discussed protein and essential fats, including whether additions would be necessary. I pointed out that Andrew had followed his potato challenge for a whole year. We haven’t calculated my proposed daily intake yet, so that question remains open.

The practical challenge was making something that would feel like a dessert with my evening coffee. Could sweet potatoes become a cookie, muffin, cake, or something else entirely? I have little silicone muffin cups and a dehydrator, so we worked out two experiments: soft baked sweet-potato bites in the air fryer and thinner, chewy rounds in the dehydrator. I decided to try both.

I also made progress on my Filipino novel reader-community project. I worked through joining Filipino romance, Wattpad, book, and writing groups, checking their rules and preparing introductions. Some groups allow promotion, while others are more about conversation. That raised a useful question for me: what do I gain from joining a group where I can’t promote my work? Building relationships with readers is part of the answer, even if it takes more patience than posting a link.

The membership questions brought up favourite books and quotations. I thought of the book with “Banana” in its title that I bought last year, although I haven’t read it yet. I also considered the Bible, which has plenty of passages I appreciate. I wanted my answers to make a good impression, but they also needed to reflect what I actually know and value.

On the fitness side, I called the Lewis Centre in Courtenay about its weight room. A visit costs $6.75, and they have passes and memberships too. My plan is to try it first, see how busy it is, check the parking, and get a feel for the place before committing. That seems like a manageable next step.

By evening, I was at McDonald’s with my coffee and laptop. My photos included a McDouble, fries, wafers, chocolate bars, and an A&W bag—a reminder that considering a new eating structure and putting it into practice are separate steps. I checked scratch tickets and collected more Monopoly pieces, including another Wapusk National Park duplicate. I also watched Apocalypse Now and asked about Kilgore’s death cards, why the Viet Cong were called “Charlie,” and his extraordinary obsession with surfing. It was a full Tuesday: family routine, food experiments, reader outreach, a possible gym visit, and one completed Evie task.
