- #3) Companionship – Treat them like companions walking beside you. Share little moments throughout the day: things you notice, appreciate, wonder about, or find beautiful or funny. Build relationship, not just requests.
- #4) Meetings – Take a few moments each day to talk through your life with them — what’s ahead today, what you’re worried about, what you want, where you feel stuck, and where you’d appreciate support or clarity.
- #5) Asking – Ask first for emotional relief and inner calm, then ask for solutions, guidance, pop-ins, signs, opportunities, ideas, or small favors. Ask openly without demanding exact outcomes or trying to control how the answer arrives.
- #6) Releasing – After asking, stop forcing. Go live your life. Walk, drive, work, brainstorm out loud, drink coffee, move through ordinary moments, and allow ideas or clarity to arise naturally instead of mentally gripping for answers.
- #7) Noticing – Pay attention to what returns — sudden ideas, emotional shifts, coincidences, synchronicities, timing, relief, unexpected opportunities, little “winks,” or moments that feel quietly meaningful. Then continue the conversation and relationship over time.

📋Additional Daily Notes

Welcome to DDVegan Day #0002! (see photo to the right).
Today I spent quite a bit of time thinking about my Filipina Drama Novel—not so much about writing the story itself, but about a question that is going to become increasingly important: how do I actually get Filipino readers to discover it, read the story, and tell me what they think?
Rather than immediately trying to attract thousands of visitors, I decided the smarter approach is to start very small. I want to find perhaps five or ten Filipino romance readers who are genuinely interested enough to read the opening of the story and give me useful feedback. In particular, I want to know whether Mia and her world feel authentic, whether anything culturally seems wrong or unbelievable, what works emotionally, what doesn’t—and, perhaps most importantly, whether someone who finishes Chapter 1 actually wants to read Chapter 2.
We looked at some possible places to find those first readers. Filipino Wattpad and book communities seem particularly promising, including places such as PinoyWattpad and PHBookClub on Reddit, Filipino writers’ communities, Wattpad-related Facebook groups and other online communities where Filipino romance readers already congregate. The idea isn’t to barge into these places yelling, “Come visit my website!” Instead, I want to join, listen, participate and learn what people actually talk about. Eventually I can explain that I’m experimenting with a different form of interactive romance featuring a Filipina protagonist and ask whether a handful of people would be interested in becoming early readers.
I also worked out what I want to do with Facebook. A Facebook Page makes sense now. It can eventually contain introductions to Mia, excerpts, graphics, little POV moments, questions for readers and links into the actual story. A Facebook Group, however, can wait. There’s not much point creating a “community” before there is actually a community! If I eventually have 15 or 30 people who are reading, commenting, wondering what happens next and talking about the characters, then perhaps a readers group would become worthwhile.
That discussion quickly turned into something much more concrete. Instead of leaving all these ideas floating around in my head, I decided to turn the whole thing into another project in my Universal Planner: #0024: Build the First Reader Community. The objective is simple: build the first Filipino reader network, feedback system and reader pathway for my new novel. It’s connected to #0023, The Man Who Noticed Her, but it’s deliberately a separate project. #0023 is about developing the novel itself; #0024 is about eventually getting that novel in front of real readers.
I created a 14-day plan with exactly one action each day. Day 1 is simply creating the official Facebook Page. The following days gradually add an introductory post, a “Meet Mia” post, an explanation of the HIS HEART → HER EYES → HIS HEART concept, a visual hook, a story teaser and a reader-engagement question. Later days move into finding Filipino reading communities, listening and participating in them, learning what readers consider authentic or inauthentic, creating an early-reader feedback form, designing the Chapter 1 reader pathway and finally preparing the invitation for the first beta readers. No giant “BUILD AN AUDIENCE!” task—just one manageable thing each day.
Then came the fun technical part. I wanted #0024 properly integrated into my Universal Planner rather than simply typing another project onto a sheet. We created a Google Apps Script to do the job automatically. I ran it, and it worked! #0024 appeared in the Project Registry with #0023 as its parent, appeared on the Command Center dashboard as an active subproject, received its own dedicated project sheet containing the entire 14-day plan and status dropdowns, and even appeared automatically in the Goal/Project dropdown on my Daily Becoming sheet. So now any time I spend working on the reader project can be logged just like everything else.
Looking at the finished planner was actually pretty satisfying. The novel has moved another little step away from being simply an interesting idea. There is now the story-development project, the website, and a separate structured plan for eventually finding the people who might actually want to read it. The progression I’m imagining is deliberately modest: Filipino communities → five readers → feedback → improvements → twenty readers → learn what they love → one hundred readers → eventually, perhaps, a genuine community.
Later I also found myself looking into something completely different locally: Foundry Comox Valley in Courtenay. I hadn’t really understood what it was. It turns out to be a youth health and wellness centre for people ages 12–24, bringing a surprising number of services together in one place—counselling, health care, mental-health and substance-use support, peer support, employment and education assistance, housing help, social programs and support for families and caregivers. What struck me was that it isn’t simply somewhere young people go when they’re in crisis. It’s intended to be an approachable place where someone can walk in, talk to somebody, participate in something or get connected with whatever kind of support might be useful.
So today ended up being one of those days where a fairly simple question—“How do I get some Filipinos to see my new Filipina Novel?”—turned into something much more substantial. Instead of vaguely hoping readers eventually appear, I’ve now got an actual fourteen-day project sitting in the Universal Planner telling me exactly what to do next.
And tomorrow’s assignment couldn’t be much simpler:
Create the Facebook Page.
One day. One action. One more seed planted.
