This morning began early. Very early. I started the day with my Morning Prayer to the Universe — asking for guidance, asking to notice the bridges, asking to move toward what’s written in my Little Red Book. I weighed in at 323.7 lbs., which puts me 38.2 pounds down from 361.9. The math says that with a steady 0.5 lbs. per week, I’ll reach 199.5 lbs. by October 27, 2026. At 0.4 lbs. per week, I’ll be 199.9 lbs. by January 1, 2027. Discipline was intact: Only Omelette, black coffee, vitamins, collagen, and the Goddard & Ladder subliminal from last night. No Nighttime Whispers.

At 5:30 a.m., I dropped my daughter off at Driftwood Mall for her Victoria trip. It was still dark, cold, and quiet. From there I drove to McDonald’s on Ryan & Lerwick and found myself the second customer of the day. I sat alone with a black coffee while the restaurant slowly woke up (see photo to the right). On my phone were massive Middle East headlines about the US & Israel bombing Iran. Small-town Courtenay stillness. Global tension scrolling across the screen. Strange contrast.
I came home and crashed until about 11:30 a.m. Then I went to see Amy for my first individual session today. She described my background as “quite fascinating,” which landed in an interesting way. The session felt structured and practical, not dramatic. I think I’ll go back.
After therapy, I got my son up and took him to a birthday party. Then I came home and crashed again. Slept until somewhere between 3 and 6 p.m. This day moved in waves — awareness, sleep, introspection, parenting, sleep again.
In the evening, I went to Benino’s and ordered a large Canadiano. Night outside. Warm light inside. While sitting there, I took the 16 AI-generated photographs from earlier today and inserted them into my OpenOffice manuscript. I now have 16 chapters of my Philippines Trip novel paired with 16 photorealistic images. It no longer feels like scattered drafting. It feels like an artifact. I sat there reading the entire thing.
It’s interesting reading a story about a man who stops waiting for confirmation and simply moves, builds structure, participates, and returns steady — on the same day I sat in therapy unpacking my past and thinking about how to guide my daughter’s future. I won’t overinterpret that parallel. But I notice it.
Tonight my daughter finished up in Victoria. They stopped in Nanaimo at White Spot for dinner and are expected home around 9 p.m., where I’ll pick her up again at Driftwood Mall. The day ends where it began. Same parking lot. Different internal state.
No major Barn Suite progress today. No music studio steps. No bookkeeping wins. Today was about internal infrastructure — discipline held, therapy engaged, kids supported, novel advanced.
