    • #2) Honesty – Speak truthfully about what you actually feel — fear, loneliness, frustration, gratitude, confusion, hope, excitement, doubt, or exhaustion. Don’t perform spirituality. Just be real.
    • #3) Companionship – Treat them like companions walking beside you. Share little moments throughout the day: things you notice, appreciate, wonder about, or find beautiful or funny. Build relationship, not just requests.
    • #4) Meetings – Take a few moments each day to talk through your life with them — what’s ahead today, what you’re worried about, what you want, where you feel stuck, and where you’d appreciate support or clarity.
    • #5) Asking – Ask first for emotional relief and inner calm, then ask for solutions, guidance, pop-ins, signs, opportunities, ideas, or small favors. Ask openly without demanding exact outcomes or trying to control how the answer arrives.
    • #6) Releasing – After asking, stop forcing. Go live your life. Walk, drive, work, brainstorm out loud, drink coffee, move through ordinary moments, and allow ideas or clarity to arise naturally instead of mentally gripping for answers.
    • #7) Noticing – Pay attention to what returns — sudden ideas, emotional shifts, coincidences, synchronicities, timing, relief, unexpected opportunities, little “winks,” or moments that feel quietly meaningful. Then continue the conversation and relationship over time.

📋Additional Daily Notes

Today turned into one of those days where an ordinary list of errands became an experiment in how I want to live. I started out on a sunny Friday asking the Universe for a little wink. Yesterday, driving to and from Nanaimo, I had been thinking about the difference between striving for something and living with the feeling that I already have it. Today I decided to put that idea to the test with something wonderfully insignificant: finding a copy of The Guess Who’s Canned Wheat album somewhere in the Comox Valley. The idea was to approach it playfully—of course it’s here; I’m simply going to pick it up—rather than desperately trying to make something happen.

There were practical things to take care of first. I dropped off my prescription at the pharmacy, stopped at the new Tim Hortons on Cliff Avenue looking for my vibrating watch without success, and got the Camry’s oil changed. That led to another little automotive adventure. An earlier inspection at DN Auto had recommended replacing a belt, and with my Victoria trip coming up Tuesday I wondered whether I should be worried. The tech at Great Canadian Oil Change looked at what appeared to be the serpentine belt and didn’t see any obvious cracking, which made me feel considerably better about the drive. I’m now leaning toward simply keeping an eye on it and having the car thoroughly checked again rather than treating every recommendation as an emergency.

Then the great Canned Wheat treasure hunt began. I went into “This ’n That”, where the fellow even called their Port Alberni store to see whether they had any Guess Who records. Nothing. For one promising moment he thought the first album in a box might actually be The Guess Who, only to discover that it was The Who—the British band, wrong “Who” entirely. I tried Island Trader next. Their records weren’t categorized, and the fellow there hadn’t even heard of The Guess Who, so I went through the records myself. Nothing. Then came Lake Trail Thrift Store, with bins and crates of old albums that looked exactly like the sort of place where Canned Wheat ought to be hiding. I dug through those too. Still nothing.

Somewhere along the way, though, the experiment became more interesting than the album. I realized I was doing exactly what I had been questioning yesterday: striving. I was driving from store to store, digging through bin after bin, trying harder and harder to make the Universe produce the result I had decided it should produce. If the lesson I’m experimenting with is “I already have it,” perhaps the point isn’t to turn that into another technique for forcing an outcome. Maybe there comes a point when the most faithful thing I can do is stop. So I did. I decided I might go home, have something to eat, perhaps light a candle later, and let Canned Wheat be Canned Wheat. Whether or not the album eventually appears, today gave me a much more interesting question about the difference between inspired action and anxious pursuit.

And underneath all of this was something quieter but perhaps more important. Tonight I completed another Daily Becoming Session. I spent 52 minutes finishing Chapter 3 of The World Is Waiting for You, 11 minutes on HelpByBuzz and mental-health material, and nine minutes recording my weight and watching SpudFit. That brought today to 72 minutes, pushed my streak to 49 consecutive days, and brought my lifetime total to 70.78 hours. Day by day those little sessions don’t always feel enormous. But seventy hours is no longer a tiny experiment. It is evidence that, whatever else I may be uncertain about, I really am consistently investing time in the person and the life I want to become.

So perhaps today’s Universe wink wasn’t finding Canned Wheat after all. Maybe it was coming home without it—and realizing that the unsuccessful search had given me a story, a YouTube idea, a lesson about striving, and another completed day in a 49-day streak. I went out looking for an old Guess Who record. I didn’t find it. But I’m beginning to think that may have been the least interesting possible thing I could have found.
