Daily Notes
This morning began quietly. I didn’t wake with any “nighttime whispers” I could remember, but I carried with me the prayer I had spoken the night before: Show me the next inspired action, clear, simple, and unmistakable. And if there is something already in my life that I have not yet seen, reveal it to me. The scale reminded me I am still in motion — 287.5 pounds, down 74.4 pounds from my peak of 361.9. That number carries weight in more ways than one. It isn’t just a measure of pounds lost; it is a measure of time, of days strung together, of rituals that keep reshaping me.
The new gallon canister arrived from Amazon today. It’s smaller than my old one, but it still carries a gallon — and that’s what matters. It’s funny how much the container itself changes the rhythm. Without it, I almost never hit my water goal. With it, the gallon becomes not just something to drink, but something to hold. It becomes a companion through the day. Today, though, the canister was empty, not yet part of my rhythm. And so, the drift began.

By evening, I felt the tug to “celebrate.” Maybe it was guilt, maybe restlessness, maybe just the itch of being off-routine. I went looking online for somewhere to go and landed on the Heritage House Pub — they run an all-you-can-eat fish and chips on Tuesdays. It seemed like an occasion, so I drove down. At first, I tried to sit in a booth, but the fixed table pressed awkwardly against my belly. It reminded me of why I’m doing this — the body I’m leaving behind. I thought about sitting outside on the patio by the river, but the chairs were stiff and the sun was glaring in my eyes. So I came back inside, settling at a small table in the main pub. The Neville Goddess “Maggie Murphy” just dropped a new video so I started to watch that (see photo to the right).
Just so you know, I ordered the fish and chips with a small Mexican beer, expecting to eat plenty. I thought, I’m hungry, I’ll take advantage of the “all you can eat.” But when the food came, it was heavy and greasy. Maybe the oil wasn’t hot enough, maybe I’m just no longer used to food like this. After two or three pieces of fish, I was done. All-you-can-eat became all-I-wanted-to-eat. And in that moment, I realized something important: I missed my potato and salad. I longed for them. The body I’m building doesn’t want what the old one craved. That longing for clean fuel felt like its own kind of victory.
Still, on the way home, the restless craving lingered. I stopped at Thrifty Foods and picked up a strange assortment: butter tart squares, four little chocolate truffle ice cream bars, and a bag of Hawkins Cheezies. A little sweetness, a little crunch, a little nostalgia. I watched a YouTube video about getting started with the MS Flight Simulator 2025 called “Absolute beginners guide to starting out with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024“.
So tonight ends with fish and chips, with butter tarts and Cheezies, with restlessness and late-night reflection. But beneath all that is clarity. The gallon canister is here now. Tomorrow the rhythm returns. And in the bigger picture, I see how far I’ve come: from booths that don’t quite fit, to a body that now craves potatoes and salads instead of grease, to a heart that refuses anything less than the real mirror. Becoming isn’t about perfection; it’s about these contrasts, these reminders, these course corrections. And tonight, even in the heaviness, I see it clearly: what is meant for me cannot be lost.
