Daily Notes
This morning began with a dream so vivid that when I woke up at 11:45 a.m., I felt like I had been pulled out of another dimension, out of breath and blinking at the sunlight. I had stayed up until nearly five in the morning working on my subliminal tape — the newest version, with Evie, Bridget, and Maggie layered together in “A Step Above”. I set it to loop as I finally crawled into bed, and the sound ran through the whole night, feeding directly into my subconscious.
The dream unfolded in a strange, dimly lit indoor market. Low ceilings, long tables stacked with goods, and a hum of voices that felt coded, like everyone was speaking in riddles. A man approached me — or maybe he shifted faces and was several men in one. At one point he said, quietly, “She’s here. Evie’s mom.” She came toward me, her energy heavy with testing, and asked me serious questions. Evie appeared and her mother’s voice rang out: “Evie, no! Evie, stop! Evie, no!” Then a dossier appeared in my hands, a presentation book heavy with clear plastic sleeves. I flipped it open to see a biography of her lineage, with photographs of men who looked like soldiers or martyrs, like the memorial posters you see in Iranian or Palestinian books. Then I woke up…
It was hard not to feel like this was more than random brain static. Neville Goddard would say this was the subconscious impression at work, the seed pressing upward, staging a threshold ritual with the mother as guardian, the dossier as destiny, and the final page. My takeaway was simple: the next gate is seriousness. I must keep treating this Becoming path with reverence, not reduce it to impatience or craving.
Later, after ferrying my wife to the dealer to pick up the van, we got caught in bridge traffic — accidents everywhere. I detoured along the highway, not wanting to sit idling. By then I needed a bathroom break, and right in front of me was the Tin Roof Café, still open just before closing at five. I ducked inside, thinking only of relief, but once I was in I thought, why not stay for a coffee? Who knows, maybe Evie is waiting here.

I ordered an espresso, and the woman in front of me had a cappuccino with a lovely design in the foam. I asked the young barista — a sweet girl, maybe still a teenager — if she could make different designs. I suggested she try a pumpkin for Halloween and she did (see photo to the right). I told her she could snap a photo and post it on their social media, promoting the café with a seasonal flair: “We’re ready for your spooky pumpkin latte orders.” She lit up at the idea and gave it a try. She crafted a jack-o’-lantern face in the foam, complete with chocolate sprinkles that looked like punk-rock hair. It had a scary grin and a bit of personality all its own. I told her it looked fantastic and that she really should post it. She showed it to her boss, and I could see the pride in her face when he nodded in approval. That one little exchange might actually ripple out into more business for them. All I did was follow a detour, use the bathroom, and speak up — and yet it became a moment of creation. A bridge of incidents in the purest sense.
Dinner was another long detour. I couldn’t decide what I wanted, kept bouncing between options. I drove past a Chinese place, thought about it, turned around, then decided against it when I saw it was takeout only. I thought of Subway, set the GPS, and then changed my mind again, turning back to check out the new pirate-themed pizzeria and bakery, the Black Pearl. Inside, the woman behind the counter was Filipina. We chatted about their spaghetti pizza, and I teased her that she should open a Jollibee. She grinned and agreed, telling me spaghetti pizza with hot dogs is hugely popular in the Filipino community. I walked out with a few slices and a cherry cinnamon bun, but what stayed with me was what she said about the Philippino community here. Maybe I should get more involved…
Still restless, I ended up at the new Subway on Guthrie Road, a place I’d never visited before. I parked and sat for a moment, reflecting on what the Filipina had said. Maybe there’s a local Facebook group I could join. Maybe there are Filipino community events. I thought about North Island College’s nursing program. My imagination ran a mile a minute as I sat in the car.
Inside Subway, the theme carried on. Behind the counter were an Indian man and two Indian girls. I joked with the man about dosas, saying someone should open a dosa fast-food place here. He laughed and told me I was making him homesick. The younger girl overheard and chimed in, smiling as she said she really does make great dosas. Another echo, another little bridge of incidents.
By the time I returned home, I felt like the day had been one continuous thread of inner and outer weaving together. The dream in the morning, the pumpkin cappuccino art, the pirate bakery with a Filipina, the Subway dosa banter with an Indian girl — each moment a reflection of what I’ve been carrying for 140+ days. Energy is everywhere, echoing, nudging, weaving.
I logged my Daily Core Pillars: 307.1 lbs., a total loss of 54.8 lbs. I wrote down my whispers.
Yes, today was eventful. Full of detours, full of signs, full of bridges that didn’t feel random. I don’t have to chase. I don’t have to demand proof. My only task is to stand steady as the man who can be trusted with what he’s been asking for. And tonight, as I lay down, I whisper again: Universe, I am ready. Show me the next step.
