📋Additional Daily Notes

Monday unfolded as one of those wandering days where a series of ordinary stops slowly stitched themselves together into a narrative. The first stop of note was Plate’s Eatery, a casual local spot recognizable by the wall covered with license plates from all over. Sitting there at the table, I had a classic club sandwich—toast layered with bacon, tomato, and lettuce—served with seasoned fries (see photo to the right). The setup on the table reflected the modern habit of doing several things at once: my Acer laptop open, and beside it a tablet streaming YouTube. On the screen was a cooking-style video showing a man preparing meat in a kitchen. It was a simple diner moment, the kind of scene that blends old-school comfort food with the digital glow of screens.
Later in the evening, around 6:45 p.m., I found myself at Benino’s with a small cappuccino. The café had its usual evening calm, a few people scattered around the tables and the gentle hum of quiet conversation. While sitting there I began watching an episode of Keeping Up Appearances. During the episode a scene appeared where someone was climbing a ladder outside the house. That caught my attention immediately because recently I’ve been experimenting with the famous ladder visualization exercise associated with Neville Goddard. For several nights I’ve been going to sleep imagining myself climbing a ladder. Neville says that if you vividly imagine climbing a ladder before sleep, eventually you’ll find yourself doing it in real life.
I haven’t been putting up the pieces of paper that say “I will not climb a ladder,” but I have been consistently imagining the scene before sleep and even during naps. So seeing a ladder suddenly appear in the sitcom felt strangely timed. It raised the question of whether it was simply coincidence or whether my mind was just primed to notice ladders more readily because I’ve been thinking about them.
From Benino’s I eventually wandered across the street toward Dollarama, where I picked up a couple of inexpensive cookies: Bourbon chocolate cream sandwich biscuits and strawberry tartelette cookies. Before heading inside another small curiosity appeared on the ground—a coin that at first glance looked real but turned out to be a plastic token, probably from a toy or game.
The evening wound down at McDonald’s, where I sat with a coffee and the cookies from Dollarama. On the table in front of me were the two biscuits—one chocolate sandwich cookie and one strawberry tart cookie—while my tablet played the evening news on YouTube, discussing international events and political developments. It was one of those quiet late-evening fast-food moments: the soft noise of the restaurant, the glow of the tablet screen, and the small routine of coffee and cookies.
Earlier in the day there had also been a technical project underway at home. I installed a fresh copy of Windows 11 on my Dell OptiPlex 7060, which is destined to become my music studio computer. The installation initially stalled on the network screen because Windows couldn’t detect the network drivers, but with a command workaround the installation continued successfully. After several blue setup screens and a few minutes of waiting, the machine eventually booted to the brand-new Windows desktop.
From there the next task became sorting through the enormous list of drivers on Dell’s support page—chipset drivers, graphics drivers, Ethernet drivers, storage firmware, and a large number of enterprise management tools designed mostly for corporate environments. The advice was to focus only on the essentials: chipset drivers, management engine components, the Ethernet driver to restore internet access, and the correct graphics driver.
Looking back over the day, nothing particularly dramatic happened, yet the day still felt oddly full. A diner meal at Plate’s, a cappuccino at Benino’s, a ladder scene on a British sitcom that echoed a visualization experiment, a plastic coin on the ground, cookies from Dollarama, coffee at McDonald’s, a news story about chance encounters, and a freshly installed computer waiting to become the heart of a music studio.
Just another Monday, quietly assembling its own story from a series of small moments.
