The day began with a renewed focus on the framework I’ve been building for myself, something I’m calling The AI Diet v2.0. The idea is to keep things simple and repeatable—almost mechanical—so that success becomes a matter of just following the system each day. The core of the diet is an “eat as much as you want” omelette built from potatoes, egg whites, cauliflower rice, and mixed vegetables, along with one tablespoon of flaxseed daily and optional flavoring like hot sauce, nutritional yeast, tomato sauce, or mustard. Alongside that, unlimited salad mix is allowed, as well as drinks like black coffee, tea with a splash of plant milk, or water. The rest of the day’s structure includes controlled portions: one serving of bread such as an Ezekiel muffin or rice cakes, one serving of oatmeal or Weetabix, a small protein serving like tuna or chicken, one can of beans, a small serving of nuts, one fruit, and up to 100 calories of condiments. The plan also allows one alcohol-free beer or Zevia, along with daily vitamins, a Martini Water Ritual, and two scoops of collagen. For movement, the rule is simple: at least one exercise for a minimum of five minutes, something small but consistent, like a set of dumbbell bicep curls.

Later in the evening I headed out to Benino’s for a coffee. I ordered a cappuccino and sat down for a while. When the drink arrived, I noticed the foam had settled into a strange little pattern that at first looked like two shapes joined together. The more I looked at it, though, the more it seemed to resemble a small dove, almost like a dove of peace floating in the foam (see photo to the right). It was one of those little quiet coffee shop moments that feels oddly symbolic when you’re sitting there alone. While I was there I also took out my phone and filmed about five minutes of The Acolyte, the first story in the Star Wars timeline, beginning my plan to work through the entire saga as the weeks go by.

Part of the motivation behind all of this is the long-term goal of continuing to move the scale downward toward 290 pounds, and eventually much further. I’ve been trying to build daily structure around that goal so that each day has a rhythm—morning reflection, following the diet plan, some exercise, and then creative or personal projects along the way. One idea I settled on today was to combine the process with something enjoyable: watching the entire Star Wars saga in chronological order as I move forward with the diet. The plan is to watch all the movies and live-action series in timeline order—skipping the animated versions—starting with The Acolyte, which takes place earliest in the Star Wars universe.

Benino’s closes at 8:00 p.m., so I wrapped things up and left around quarter to eight. From there I drove over to Costco with a specific errand in mind. Earlier I had bought a case of Guinness Draft, but after trying it I found it surprisingly disappointing—thin and flat compared to what Guinness should taste like. I don’t usually return things to Costco, but this one just wasn’t worth keeping, so I brought it back and returned it without any trouble. While I was there I picked up a few groceries, including lettuce and something that instantly caught my eye: passion fruit (see photo to the right).

When I got home I cut one open and was greeted by that beautiful golden pulp filled with glossy black seeds. The smell and flavor instantly took me back. It had been more than thirty years since I lived in Australia, and passion fruit was something I used to enjoy regularly there. Somehow the taste tonight felt exactly the same—bright, tart, sweet, and intensely tropical. I took a photo of it before eating it, partly because it looked so good and partly because it felt like a small moment worth recording.

Looking back, the day had a simple but satisfying rhythm: refining the structure of AI Diet v2.0, thinking about long-term goals like reaching 290 pounds, beginning the Star Wars chronological watch-through with The Acolyte, enjoying a cappuccino at Benino’s, noticing a dove-like shape in the foam, returning a disappointing case of Guinness at Costco, and finishing the night rediscovering the flavor of passion fruit from decades ago. Nothing dramatic happened, but sometimes the most memorable days are built from small, quiet details like these.
