📋Additional Daily Notes

Today unfolded as one of those quietly strange, reflective days where ordinary errands somehow blended with bigger thoughts about life, technology, habits, and the small rituals that seem to anchor everything. The morning began with my newsletter already prepared from the night before, something I had worked on before going to bed. Sending it out at 7 a.m. gave me a subtle sense of continuity, like I was keeping a promise to myself that my projects and routines still matter, even when my mood drifts.

I went to BD Mitchel this morning and got my new brace.  Cost $399, but I gave their form to my doctor to get a prescription so hopefully insurance will cover it.  I then went to get my lab work done to test for thyroid, etc.

After that I went to REVOCCO Coffee Bar (see photo to the right) for the first time…it’s in an assisted living facility!!!  The place itself had an almost surreal feeling — needing a code to get in and a code to leave, surrounded mostly by people accompanying elderly relatives. It wasn’t a typical café atmosphere at all, which somehow made the coffee feel secondary to the moment. Sitting there, I felt very aware of my own health and the simple gratitude of still being mobile, still independent, still able to wander into places like this alone. It became less about caffeine and more about perspective.

Later, movement and environment took over. I picked up my son from school, keeping the day grounded in routine responsibilities, then drifted back into my familiar coffee-shop orbit of Mudsharks (bottom photo to the right). A minor but oddly satisfying episode played out around parking. At first there was no space, prompting that brief internal debate about whether to settle for Rhodos instead. Circling back and finding my preferred parking spot open right in front of the library felt disproportionately satisfying, one of those tiny victories that brighten the texture of a day for no rational reason.

On the way to Mudsharks I stopped at Value Village and left more of my bright yellow business cards behind. That ongoing experiment continues to feel like planting seeds into the physical world, each card a small, silent gesture of optimism. There’s something deeply symbolic about scattering these fragments of intention into ordinary public spaces, as if momentum can be built one unnoticed action at a time.

Food, or rather the absence of it, became a recurring theme throughout the day. I still hadn’t eaten, and my mind kept circling back to fasting, OMAD, and whether stretching the window longer might help reset my weight trajectory. There’s always that internal tug-of-war between discipline and comfort, structure and impulse. Even while thinking about calories and timing, I could feel that familiar psychological layer underneath — the hope that changing patterns might also change how I feel.

Somewhere in the middle of the day, I drifted into that familiar Neville-style inner world, replaying a small imaginative scene before sleep: opening a car door and finding a Toonie. Coins have long carried symbolic weight for me, tiny tokens of synchronicity that once made life feel playful and responsive. Lately, though, I’ve been wrestling with the sense that my worldview has shifted — less magical, more analytical — and I caught myself wondering whether I miss the feeling more than the event itself. It’s a peculiar kind of nostalgia, not for the past, but for a mindset.

There was also a moment of irritation and self-reflection tied to a discussion about Stranger Things. My confidence in information sources took a small hit after conflicting claims about the release of the final season. Being confronted with errors, even trivial entertainment facts, stirred something deeper than the topic deserved. It’s funny how easily trust and doubt bleed into entirely unrelated areas of thought, including my own experiments with belief, expectation, and interpretation.

The evening gradually shifted into technical problem-solving mode after revisiting the LG soundbar I had bought. What started as a simple setup became a layered troubleshooting exercise involving HDMI ARC, optical cables, input selections, and menu navigation. Peering behind the TV, decoding port labels, and matching cables turned into its own little puzzle. Even after getting sound, the lingering question of why the audio didn’t seem noticeably louder than the TV speakers became the final unresolved thread of the day.

Looking back, the day carried a curious mix of themes: aging and perspective, fasting and self-regulation, imagination and skepticism, small frustrations, small wins, and the oddly absorbing mechanics of home electronics. Nothing dramatic happened, yet the day felt dense with internal movement — the kind of day where most of the real activity occurs not in events, but in interpretation.
