๐Additional Daily Notes
Itโs Friday, Day Two of my Daniel Day-Lewis experiment, and the word for today is Flow.
The rain finally stopped this morning. Sunshine pushed through the clouds, and for the first time in days I felt my energy rising again as the effects of that COVID shot faded. I watched the light slip through the patio window of the Barn Suite, hitting the glass just right so that even the dirt streaks caught a bit of beauty. Presence turning into motion โ thatโs what the day felt like from the very start.
I reminded myself of the five marks I wanted to hit: wake in the state of โalready him,โ move through at least one act as my fulfilled self, notice one synchronicity, close the evening with three lines, and sleep as the man Iโm becoming. Nothing complicated, just direction without forcing.
Late afternoon I sat at my desk, took a sip of cool water from a glass, and let that tiny action feel luxurious. My mind drifted to how form and function donโt always match โ that even the cloudy window still let in light, and a personโs beauty often hides behind the same kind of film. I wrote a bit, thought about music, and then decided to head out for coffee.
The world had rearranged itself into that clean, post-rain glow. I said quietly to myself in the car, โI am the Calm Multimillionaire. Itโs not a rule; itโs who I am.โ That one sentence felt like slipping into character again. My usual table at McDonaldโs was taken, so instead of feeling thrown off I flowed with it. I drove across to Dollarama, picked up dishwashing detergent โ something I actually needed โ and even noticed a glue gun for four dollars. I smiled at the thought that maybe, someday, Iโd come back for it. No rush.

When I returned, my table was suddenly empty. The scene had reset for me, just like a director clearing a set between takes. I ordered a large coffee with two oat creams, stayed aware, and offered a quiet act of gratitude by mentioning to the counter clerk that the receipt machine was spitting paper onto the floor. He thanked me; small gesture, but it felt right. I’m thinking of playing their Monopoly game (see photo to the right).
The restaurant was filled with teenagers tonight. I watched them with a kind of detached amusement โ the wild energy of youth meeting my quiet calm. One girl picked up a fry off the floor and ate it, just to make her friends laugh. I couldnโt help smiling and said, โThatโs quite a talent; there are a few more over here if you want them.โ She looked surprised, coughed, laughed, and I just stayed still. The world doing what it does. My job was simply to witness without judgment.
Later, I noticed something curious: a video recommendation mentioning รmile Couรฉ, the French autosuggestion teacher who influenced Neville. It felt like another breadcrumb from the Universe, reminding me that ease and imagination always outweigh effort. Couรฉโs message of gentle repetition โ of letting the mind believe by calm acceptance rather than force โ fit perfectly with the theme of Flow.
After McDonalds, I drove toward Thrifty Foods. The rain had stopped completely, and puddles glittered under the streetlights. I debated whether to go in for oat creamer or not, but curiosity nudged me forward. I wasnโt hunting for signs โ just open to what the next frame might hold. That sense of curiosity itself felt like alignment. Thrifty Foods closes at 10 pm, and I was one minute late…
Tonight I can see that the day was never about drama or miracles. It was about rhythm โ moving like water, noticing small coincidences, staying composed when the scene got strange, and allowing every moment to feel complete.
The highlights were subtle but clear: my regular seat opening just as I returned, my energy coming back, the light on wet pavement, the echo of Flow in a clerkโs words, and even the spark of excitement about picking up my Les Paul again to learn Mark Knopflerโs fingerpicking style.
The film of today ends quietly: fluorescent reflections, the hum of a coffee machine, the night softening into stillness. Iโm grateful for the calm that replaced effort and for the way life keeps proving that when I stop pushing, everything starts moving.
Tonight Iโll fall asleep with the subliminal of Kirk and Evie playing softly in the background โ Presence turning into Flow, Flow turning into peace โ and the feeling that life is editing itself perfectly while I rest.
