📋Additional Daily Notes

I woke up this morning and realized that I’m still holding something off physically, and my son and wife seem to be dealing with the same thing. My daughter appears to be fine. I thought that getting out of the house for a coffee might help, so I headed into town. On the way to Benino’s I stopped off at Thrifty Foods and picked up some Rice Chex cereal and some rice cakes. I’ve never actually been to Benino’s in the morning before, so it was a change of scene for me. The place had that usual crowd of elegant older people, no young people really, though there was a younger girl working behind the counter. I ordered an Americano and ate some of the Rice Chex (see photo to the right) while I sat and read through the Unified Manifestation Method. I actually went through the entire document while sitting there, and every time I revisit it, it reminds me just how good it is. There is a lot of clear thinking and structure in it, and I want to figure out how to apply it more deliberately, especially now that I’m getting traction with my health, weight, and consistency.
I’ve been on this potato reset diet for several days now. For the first three days it was just potatoes. Then days four through six were potatoes plus rice. Tomorrow is day seven, and I’m planning on adding applesauce for three days. After reviewing everything with ChatGPT, it seems like applesauce is smart. After the applesauce phase, the next foods are: Egg whites, Greek yogurt, hummus, bananas, cooked tomatoes, chickpeas, lentils, and so on. Foods like cauliflower, peas, and mushrooms fit into the second tier of vegetable reintroductions, but they’ll come later. I also asked about things like Zevia, stevia, sugar-free ketchup, cucumbers, and even tomato sauce with herbs, and they all got ranked accordingly. It looks like cucumbers mixed with Greek yogurt could make a great dip for rice-based dosas, which I’m going to start experimenting with soon.
On the technology side, I asked how to change MS Paint’s default saving behavior because it keeps trying to send images to the Downloads folder and convert them to .png. What I learned is that Paint doesn’t allow setting a default file format, and it will always default to PNG, but if I open a .jpg and simply hit Ctrl+S, it will save in the same location, with the same filename, and without converting. That should make things easier since I don’t want to keep digging through downloads to find crop edits.
My daily checklist remains the backbone of my mornings. I didn’t record anything for Nighttime Whispers this morning, but I did listen to the subliminal mp3 about the coffee shop in Comox last night. Wednesdays are one of my recording days, so I created videos of my dieting progress so far and started thinking about the next YouTube short I want to put together. I’ve also been working on my 2025 photo collage as a Christmas present, which feels like a fun side-project to mix with the more structured routines.
Today felt like one of those small but meaningful Comox Valley days — slow, slightly uncomfortable physically, but productive and thoughtful. I sat at Benino’s surrounded by older people sipping their coffees, with a bowl of Rice Chex and an Americano in front of me, reading through the words I wrote about identity, stillness, and becoming. Somehow it all fits together: the food, the routines, the weight loss, the systems, the books, the conversations, the desires, and the quiet patience. I continue to show up, even on days when nothing looks dramatic. That seems to be the whole point.
