📋Additional Daily Notes

2026-03-31 - Air Fryer Fries

This morning I made a batch of fries using the frozen ones I picked up from Costco. Threw them into the air fryer and let them go (see photo to the right). At first they looked pale, not quite there yet, but I knew from experience that the real magic comes with time, a shake halfway through, and letting them crisp up properly. It’s funny how something as simple as fries can mirror everything else—give it time, don’t rush it, let the process do its thing. That seems to be a theme lately.

Later on, around 3:52 p.m., I found myself at Benino’s, sitting down with a London Fog. There’s something about that place—the light coming through the window, the wooden tables, the calm hum of people coming and going. The tea was smooth, the foam just right, and I had one simple plan: finish watching Rocky. Not just any movie, but Rocky—the ultimate “keep going” story. Sitting there, mid-afternoon, it felt like one of those quiet checkpoints in the day. Not dramatic. Not rushed. Just steady.

Later this evening my daughter and I ended up watching another movie too—one of those YouTube finds from the Movie Cabbage channel. The title alone pulled me in: “A plane flies through a black hole and falls into the past.” It turned out to be Flight World War II—a time-travel story where a modern plane gets thrown back into the middle of WWII. The premise is simple but powerful. Ordinary people suddenly placed into extraordinary circumstances. Do they stay out of it, or do they try to make a difference? That question alone carries the entire film.

I even found myself digging into the details—who the actors were, what roles they played, trying to figure out who the flight attendant was. Turns out, that wasn’t as straightforward as it seemed. Low-budget film, incomplete credits, a bit of confusion. I even snapped a photo of the screen at one point, thinking I had the right character, only to realize it was actually the pilot—Aqueela Zoll—front and center, not the flight attendant at all. Funny how easy it is to assume something based on appearance alone.

Then the conversation drifted, as it tends to do, into completely different territory—Napoleon, Julius Caesar, WAR (Wins Above Replacement), and even Myers-Briggs personality types. From there, it jumped again into investing—NVIDIA, recessions, timing the market, what Dan Ives would do, what Warren Buffett would do. Big questions. Real questions. The kind that don’t have clean answers.
