Sunday turned into a much slower day than I expected. Whatever cold or flu bug I seem to have picked up really took hold of me overnight, and instead of getting up at a normal time I slept most of the day. I didn’t actually get out of bed until around 3 p.m., which is always a strange feeling when half the day has already passed before you’re even properly awake. Earlier in the afternoon, around noon, I had been drifting in and out of sleep and at one point woke up to a video playing on my phone that immediately caught my attention. It was a Neville-style lecture titled “Everything Is Working Out For You.” The message resonated with me right away, especially given the kind of day it was turning into, so I ended up downloading the lecture and archiving it so I can listen to it regularly moving forward. I even uploaded my own copy privately on YouTube so it’s easy to play anytime on my devices.

Part of the afternoon ended up being spent going through and transcribing that lecture, because I wanted to really absorb what it was saying. The central idea of the talk is that our dominant assumptions shape the reality we experience, and that circumstances are often simply the delayed reflection of beliefs we’ve held in the past. The key message was that instead of reacting emotionally to present conditions, we can choose to hold the quiet inner assumption that everything is working out for us, even before we see the evidence of it. The lecture described that state not as forced optimism or pretending things are perfect, but more like a calm internal knowing that life has a way of unfolding in your favor.

That idea actually tied in perfectly with another video by the Neville Goddess “Maggie Murphy” that I had watched recently and also transcribed today titled “The Optimal State From Which To Manifest Anything You Want.” In that video the speaker explained that the most powerful mental state is when you are completely okay with not getting the thing you desire while simultaneously knowing that you will get it. In other words, there’s no desperation, no chasing, and no sense that your happiness depends on the outcome. You’re perfectly fine without it, yet you have a quiet confidence that it will arrive anyway. When I thought about it, that concept lines up almost exactly with what the Neville lecture was saying. One frames it as “everything is always working out for me,” while the other frames it as “I’m totally okay if I don’t get this, but I know I will.” Both are describing that same place of calm certainty rather than emotional need.

2026-03-15 - Courtenay Country Market

By the early evening I finally felt well enough to get out of the house for a bit, so around 5:30 p.m. I drove over to the Courtenay Country Market. I grabbed one of their club sandwiches with fries and had a coffee while sitting in one of the booths (see photo to the right). I brought my tablet with me and watched some YouTube while I ate. After being inside and half asleep for most of the day, it actually felt good just to sit somewhere warm with a simple meal and get a bit of a change of scenery. The place had its usual relaxed market atmosphere, and the food hit the spot even though I’m still not feeling 100%.

On the way out I picked up two gallons of 2% milk for the family and some Purity “Family Favorites” Cookies!

On the way out I put some of my bright yellow business cards in the book area and bulletin board outside. Maybe this will bring subscribers?

At 5:45 pm today my “long” video of me reading “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle at the Early Bird Cafe went live. I don’t seem to be getting many views on my channel. I thought it might be the male equivalent of “The Cottage Fairy”, but it appears not, at least not yet.

Looking back on the day, the overall theme ended up being surprisingly consistent. Even though I spent most of it resting because of this cold or flu bug, the two videos I transcribed kept circling around the same idea: that life tends to work out better when you stop chasing outcomes and instead settle into a state of calm trust. It was one of those quieter days where not much outwardly dramatic happened, but the ideas I spent time with were meaningful. Sometimes even a slow day spent recovering, listening, and reflecting can end up carrying its own kind of message about how things unfold.
