2026-01-25 - barBurrito

Today turned into one of those days that looks ordinary on the outside but feels heavy and meaningful on the inside.

It started with conversations about personality types, relationships, and compatibility. INFJs, INTJs, ESTPs. Keith Moon. Mila Kunis.

That phrase kept coming back today: holding the door.

For me, it means being the supportive one. The loyal one. The one who shows up, listens, encourages, sacrifices, waits. It means watching other people manifest their dreams, while I stand on the sidelines telling myself, “Maybe someday.” And after enough years, “maybe someday” starts to feel like “probably not.”

I drove to Bar Burrito near Starbucks. Sat alone. Had tacos, a burrito, and a soda (see photo to the right). I put on the video of Tony Robbins being interviewed about AI by “The Diary of a CEO”. I tried to feed myself and motivate myself at the same time. After that I went to Benino’s and had another “London Fog” and a biscotti.

I worked on my “Little Red Book List” while at Benino’s today, defining the “Nurse Item”!

This has been my pattern for years: cafés, window seats, notebooks, quiet corners. Not hiding. Just surviving gently.

I looked up UP Diliman in Manila and hotels, taxi fares, walking distances. Practical things. Because part of me still believes in building bridges, even when I’m tired. That surprised me.

For someone who says he feels numb, I still plan. I still imagine. I still show up. I still sit in cafés and listen to ideas and write things down. I still try. Maybe that means I haven’t given up. I’m not broken. Just tired.

By the end of the day, I wasn’t magically fixed. Nothing was solved.
