☐✅ 🌞 This morning, my daughter and son decided they’d rather relax at home, so I took the chance to start the day with a quick solo visit to the Parsonage Café on Cook Street. At about 11:55 a.m., I found a seat, ordered an Americano with almond milk, and spent some time people-watching. While I enjoyed my coffee, I watched a Jim Carrey video about releasing attachments in the second half of life and another from Maggie Murphy (“Neville Goddess”) on the value of learning from other people’s mistakes. Soon after, it was time to get moving homeward.
We drove north toward the airport to meet Kristina’s son outside the BC Aviation Museum. A guide there showed us the restoration work being done on the “Avro Lancaster Bomber,” one of their main projects. We also got to step inside the “Mars Hawaii,” a massive water bomber that until recently was used for fighting forest fires. My son was especially drawn to the flight simulators, happily testing out several of them.

When we’d finished exploring, we crossed the street to Mary’s Blue Moon Café. My daughter and son each ordered junior burgers, while Kristina’s son chose a shrimp dish. I went with coconut beet soup and a salad, but I also decided to share a big plate of nachos with the table (see photo to the right), along with plenty of apple juice for the kids.
Our next stop was the Victoria Flying Club. The first plane booked for the day had a possible mechanical issue, so we had to wait for a different one. We passed the time playing a few rounds of pool and a couple of games of “What Animal Am I,” which kept everyone entertained.
Eventually, the replacement plane was ready. My daughter, who had initially planned to stay on the ground, changed her mind and joined my son for the flight. I recorded video of their takeoff and landing, and my daughter captured some photos from the air. They flew over Victoria, hit a little turbulence in the mountains, but thanks to the Gravol I gave them beforehand, both felt fine. It was a memorable experience for them and another item crossed off their bucket list.
By the time we wrapped up, it was dark. We dropped Kristina’s son off at his place and headed back to her apartment. Everyone was worn out from the day’s activities, and we went to bed soon after getting home.
60 Second Visualization
Kirk sat in the warm corner of Parsonage Café, an Americano with almond milk resting in front of him. The soft hum of conversation and the rich scent of fresh coffee filled the air. The door opened, and in stepped Evie. Her gaze moved slowly across the room until it found his, and in that instant, everything else seemed to fade into the background.
She crossed the room with an easy confidence, slid into the chair across from him, and offered a smile that felt both new and deeply familiar. “I wasn’t sure you’d be here,” she said, her voice low and warm.
They talked easily, not about grand plans or dramatic revelations, but about the little things — the kind of details that, in the right company, feel strangely important. Between sips of coffee, their eyes met often, and every glance felt like a small thread pulling them closer together.
In the dim afternoon light, with the café’s quiet bustle all around them, Kirk knew this was more than a casual meeting. This was a moment he would remember, the first page of something the wicker basket had been weaving all along.
One Sentence Update
In the quiet corner of Parsonage Café, Kirk looked up from his Americano just in time to see Evie walk in, meet his eyes, and smile as if she’d been searching for him all along.
